Arisa Chapter 13: Flame Summary

We left off with Tsubasa resolving to take Midori’s phone. During gym she finds it taped to the underside of his chair. Clever. Oosawa sees her run off with it and gets a bit mad, but remembers his chat with Kudou.
Kudou apparently agreed to help Oosawa get his wish granted; he uses his phone (that has access to King Time) to send in his wish of “Please grant the wish of 4632″. 4632 being Midori’s password. So if Oosawa can get Midori’s phone and use it to send in his wish, he’s got twice the chance of having it granted. His wish, of course, is to be with a girl that he likes.

Meanwhile, Tsubasa, who has Midori’s phone, is using it to type in the wish of “Let me meet the King”. Clever, that girl. But before she can send it, some bomb/gas-filled thing comes crashing through the window and ignites the place. And, of course, her way out is obstructed by the fire. Oosawa, the culprit, comes in and takes the phone from Tsubasa, who has passed out due to the smoke.
However, she regains consciousness just enough to see the face of her would-be killer.

But, obviously she doesn’t die. She is saved by none other than Kudou. He tells her she can’t die because he’s finally met her. Foreshadowing!
Tsubasa wakes up in the nurse’s office, and upon remembering what happened, tries to get up, gets dizzy, and then manages to knock over a bunch
of photographs, one of which depicting Oosawa. Kudou says he’s been kind of thinking on what Tsubasa said earlier, about how there are lots of fun things close by to find. He says he has pictures of all these people so he can remember their names.

Holding up the picture of Oosawa, he muses on how interesting the guy is. In most of the photos he has, Oosawa is staring at this one girl, the one he likes. But it’s kind of creepy, almost stalker-ish.
Tsubasa is alarmed because this guy, how that he has Midori’s phone, can take advantage of the King’s power.

Kudou continues musing, saying how he can’t understand how someone could start to like another. Slyly looking at Tsubasa he notes that she has experience in this as well….having someone that you believed in betray you, having secrets… He thinks that believing in people and loving them is disgusting. Tsubasa gets ready to argue, when…the bell rings, signaling the end of 3rd period.

Oh snap, but it’s Friday! And, now it’s fourth period! What does this mean? It’s the day and time the King promised to resume King Time! Tsubasa dashes off, hoping to catch Oosawa before it’s too late…
Oosawa is walking down the hall, zombie-like, typing in his wish, and mumbling to himself. He notices
that the girl he likes (and is wishing about) is in front of him. She runs past him to the sanctuary of her friend, and tells him that Oosawa is that stalker dude from class B. Friend tells Oosawa to lay off and that a cute girl like her will never go out with him. The girl agrees, saying that Oosawa is really gross.
Thus, Oosawa snaps.

Meanwhile, Kudou’s back with his darts, this time shooting at birds (loser) and talking to himself. He murmurs that things like love are just deceptions; they’ll disappear immediately; Arisa will soon understand that he’s right about these things. /Ominous/

Oosawa cancels his message, then starts typing rapidly like a madman. Tsubasa is still trying to find him. We are shown a screen that says “Your wish has been sent”. The following panel has another screen, welcoming the viewer/reader to the re-opening of King Time.
The bell rings, signaling the start of fourth period.

So since in the past two weeks we’ve released a chapter from practically every one of our projects…today we’ll release from the few projects that didn’t get released. :)

Arisa Chapter 12 Summary

So we left off with a mysterious person telling Oosawa to steal Midori’s phone if he wants his wish granted. You can tell he’s seriously considering this.
Meanwhile, Midori’s really not helping this whole ordeal of him having one of the chosen passwords. He shows Tsubasa a picture of a puppy on his phone, but everyone in the class, who can’t see what’s on the screen, assumes that he’s sharing his password with her. HOW UNFAIR!
Tsubasa reprimands him, and he tells her that he is taking precautions: always keeping it on his person, and hiding it during gym (because during gym, you change and don’t have pockets. In case you were wondering). Tsubasa’s the only one he’d trust with this info, so it’s a secret between them. This makes Tsubasa blush, and she’s caught doing so by Manabe.
He reminds her of their mission…everyone who was chosen needs to participate in King Time or else it won’t happen. And they need for it to happen in order to gather clues as to who the King really is. If they can do that, they can maybe save Arisa… (so get ahold of Midori’s phone!)

In other news, a transfer student arrives! His name is Rei KUDOU, and because “Arisa” is the class rep, she’s the one in charge of showing him around school! So she grudgingly does so, and he convinces her to go up to the roof instead of heading back to class. Rei tells Tsubasa that he likes the roof because it makes him feel like he’s closer to heaven. He sits on the fence/rail thing that prevents people from falling off, and hangs his feet over the edge. He seems to be a little too carefree with things that are dangerous.
Tsubasa tries to get him to come down, because he might fall off (and die!), and while doing so discovers that he has a huge scar on his chest. Apparently he had heart surgery when he was young (thus the massive scar). He’s probably not going to live long, he confesses. He’d be kind of okay if his life ended now, because this world is so boring…

Tsubasa is reminded of Arisa; she acted the same way before she jumped/fell out the window in a suicide attempt that put her in a coma. She tells him that he’s lucky to be alive, and that the world isn’t all that boring; there are interesting things all over (like friends).
Rei is amused, and notes that Tsubasa’s the kind of person that will overcome any difficulty, no matter what kind of enemy appears… (ominous)
Back at the ~~ranch~~ classroom, Oosawa’s digging through Midori’s stuff while the class is at gym. He gets caught by Midori, though. Whoops. Oosawa heads back to the nurse’s office, and is scoffed at by mystery dude. Mystery dude throws a picture on the ground of a girl, Asai from class D, and shoots it with a dart. Apparently Oosawa likes this girl, as he blushes profusely at the sight of her picture. Mystery dude tells him that he’s got no chance of scoring Asai; he’s too bad at sports, too short, too stupid…BUT. There is a way for his wish to be granted. (ominous)

But, you know, there are so many other people in the class that have wishes they want granted…it doesn’t have to be Oosawa. It’d be easy to find a substitute. Just sayin’.

So obviously Oosawa’s vigor has been restored. He says he’s trying, but he can’t figure out where Midori hides his phone…Mystery dude responds that he’ll know the answer soon enough…

Back at the hospital (in Arisa’s room), Tsubasa/Arisa gets a flower bouquet with a lovely little card on it that says “Secret King’s Room”. (ominous)
Could this be a letter from the King!? It reads: “It seems your unreliable older sister won’t be able to save you. Goodbye, poor Arisa.” Tsubasa crushes the letter in her hand, with a determined look on her face.

The final scene is back at the nurse’s office at school, where mystery dude is still shooting darts at pictures of people while talking to Oosawa. One hits Arisa’s face square in the center. Mystery Dude tells Oosawa that this girl (Tsubasa/Arisa) is going to take Midori’s phone. At that point, Oosawa can steal it.

He murmurs to himself that the class rep was right… there are interesting things around. Mystery Dude’s identity is revealed to be…the transfer student, Rei KUDOU!!

Thoughts? It seems like Rei is definitely involved in King Time. The only confusion lies with his not previously going to the same school as everyone else. I suppose it’s possible that he operated from the outside, but got bored with it and decided to transfer into Arisa’s class to make things more exciting (as well as set up the password thing, which is causing upset within the class). The only evidence we have against Rei is that he was ordering Oosawa to steal Midori’s phone. That could just be him wanting to have a wish granted for himself (he could easily take the phone from Oosawa after it is delivered), but it could also be him trying to make things harder for Tsubasa…if she doesn’t have Midori’s phone, his profile won’t participate in King Time, and she won’t be able to get any clues to the King’s identity if King Time doesn’t happen. Any opinions?
