About Us

Nagareboshi Manga is a shoujo scanlation group founded by Ai. We originally started off as Miwatasu Scans (it’s a pun. “Miwatasu” is to take an extensive view of, survey, or “scan”, like scanning the horizon), but after flipping randomly through the dictionary, Nagareboshi won out.
Nagareboshi is Japanese for “shooting star”. Why was the name “Nagareboshi” chosen? Who knows? I sure don’t. It just appealed more to me.

We’ve been around for about five years, counting the Miwatasu phase (which was about a year). We started out scanlating only shoujo manga for young girls from Nakayoshi magazine. Now, since we and our readers are getting older, we’ve branched out a bit and while we still scan series for young girls, we also have series that are for a bit older audience (from magazines like Sho-Comi and Cheese).

We scanlate for free, and do not take any credit for the authors’ hard work in writing and drawing each series. We do, however, take credit for the translation from Japanese to English, as well as the editing process (erasing Japanese text and inserting in English). We request that no one steals our edits or translations, and asks permission before using.
